Maria Catamero began her music industry experience in the early 1990s booking hardcore and punk shows in Providence RI and Boston, where she also became publicity and booking assistant at the Middle East Cafe before moving to New York City in 1994. Upon moving to New York, Maria assisted Harvey Keitel's personal assistant where she learned how to coddle an artist and juggle their career. She began working at Hollywood Records in 1995 assisting the amazing A&R man David Wolter and fell into the publicity department shortly after. In 1997 Maria spent a challenging year at ISL PR, where she was able to work with Lyn Collins, Marva Whitney, Bobby Byrd, Martha High and the spectacular and brilliant Vickie Anderson and that made every day of her 8 months in hell worth it. It was during this time that she became known as the Soulkitten.
