Maria Catamero started her career in the music industry just out of high school when she became involved in the punk and hardcore scene. She booked shows for young bands. While in college studying film, she interned at Boston’s legendary Middle East Cafe where she was involved with booking all ages matinees and publicity. When she moved to New York, she began working at Tribeca Film Center and for Harvy Keitel’s production company. She then began working at Hollywood Records before creating Blueghost Publicity. She was instrumental in the rise of bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jimmy Eat World, and the post punk and emo scenes of the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2009, she began working on a feature film called Hated. She is a writer and writing teacher in Manhattan.
